Bassist Dave Johnson leads of the Charlotte County Big Band, which plays once a month at the Charlotte County Cultural Center in Port Charlotte, Fla. Its Feb. 11 concert paid tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and big swing bands, including those of Les Elgart, Henry Mancini, Nelson Riddle, Tommy Dorsey, Billy May and Glenn Miller.
