I'm delighted to report that the new, free, web-based Mississippi Rag is a great success. We've been flooded with e-mails (some published in "The Rag Bag") from loyal subscribers, former subscribers and new readers who say that they find the new online RAG easy to read and navigate, even those who are new to computers and the Web. And the number of visitors to our website where the new RAG™ was released on January 13 is astonishing - 6,682 visitors as of February 7!
When the January online RAG was published, a notification e-mail was sent to a list of current and lapsed subscribers, plus others who contacted us as the PDF/QMags version of the RAG was winding down. (Our last PDF RAG was the December 2007 issue.) That list was used this month, too, but if you aren't on it, discovered the RAG on your own, and want to be notified when future issues are released, please write to me at editor@mississippirag.com.
We're still refining the look of the new RAG and are grateful for suggestions sent by readers, so keep them coming. One of the suggestions we adopted this month, for example, was to increase the size of the type in the listings, and we think you'll agree that it improves readability.
Some of you have asked if you can print the RAG in one fell swoop. The answer is "No." Instead, just click on the article you want to print and print those pages. Then you can go on to the next article and repeat the process. This allows you to print only the sections you're interested in reading offline. Or, you can easily file the articles for future reference.
I want to thank you for rallying around this new format. Your open-minded, encouraging attitude is much appreciated. Thanks also to my sister, Jody, who set up a new database program this month and also resolved some rather horrifying computer problems. And, as always, I'm eternally grateful for the excellent work done by webmaster Jeff Holman and associate editor Dave Lindquist.
Sincerely,

Editor/Publisher
