I'll turn this right around and say thank you to all who have posted messages
on this board. There are nearly 200 comments posted here, and they really run
the gamut of emotions. It's clear how much the music means to all the participants,
and it's made for fascinating reading. We plan to keep the board open for further
comments--which reminds me to tell you that the discussion will extend to the
printed version of the RAG, too, because Bill Carter (author, photographer,
musician, chairman of the San Francisco Traditional Jazz Foundation) has written
a critique of the series which will be published in the March RAG. I think you
will find his analysis of the series to be fair, thought-provoking and well
worth future discussion.
