No question. Mulligan and Getz were simply amazing (and as I've pointed out in another post, Burns was so quick to dismiss West Coast jazz he did an inelegant butt-edit of two segments of Walkin' Shoes). And if you listen to an early album by Chet Baker (for instance, Chet) you hear very much the same reticent, plaintive, haunting lyricism entirely credited to Miles, which is not fair.) Baker's MIA here; Art Pepper, oh the list is just too long!
(Given the documentary's pitch, funny they didn't give a Black documentarian, maybe an actual jazz historian, the millions to make this show.)
